I Come for to Sing

Riverside, 1957

This album was a classic in its day, with Bob on banjo (except for one song on which he played guitar) and introducing the great instrumental work of Dick Rosmini with whom Bob would record and perform many times over the next two decades. It features the first recording of Abilene, which Bob wrote with Les Brown (not the band leader, but rather one of the co-owners of the Gate of Horn), and many traditional songs which would later be recorded by the numerous folk singers and groups who followed in Bob’s footsteps.
